1 (1)Confession:  I grew up with a love for old movies and tv shows.  I LOVED the classics.  On the weekends we’d go to our local video store and get some old classic movies and shows on VHS…yes, that long ago.  I am a huge fan of I Love Lucy…it’s hilarious!   I’ve failed as a parent though.  I’ve shown my kids movies that are from my own childhood, but I haven’t been great at introducing them to movies and shows from way back when…from before I was born.  All that is going to change this summer!  I just added some I Love Lucy DVD’s to our Netflix Queue, so rainy summer days are going to be all about introducing them to Lucy’s hi jinks.  And I’m going to kick it off by taking one of my munchkins to see I Love Lucy Live on Stage at the Aronoff in June.  I’m so excited about this show!  Do you have your tickets yet?  Here’s all the information you need about the show…get your tickets soon!
UPDATE ::  Ella and I went to see this show last week live on stage at the Aronoff and it was hilarious!  No, seriously, HILARIOUS!  I was laughing so hard I cried at one point and I’m not ashamed to say that I even had a few knee-slapping laughter moments.  And Ella (who had only had a crash course in Lucy culture by watching a few episodes that day) was cracking up as well.  Her giggles made me smile.  The entire cast and crew did an amazing job of bringing I LOVE LUCY to life and making the audience feel like we were actually witnessing the filming of two episodes.  It was fabulous from start to finish!

America’s favorite foursome – Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel – is live on stage and in color for the very first time!
An “out-of-body experience for ‘Lucy’ fans” according to Showbiz Chicago. I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ONSTAGE takes audience members back to 1952 as members of the Desilu Playhouse studio audience where they await the filming of two hilarious and oh-so-familiar I LOVE LUCY® episodes, “The Benefit” and“Lucy Has Her Eyes Examined.” A charming host entertains and enlightens the crowd to the behind-the-scenes filming process of a brand new thing called “television,” the Crystaltone Singers perform advertising jingles in perfect 50s style harmony and the sidesplitting antics of America’s favorite foursome – Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel.  It’s a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience TV Guide’s William Keck calls“the most entertaining stage production I’ve seen in years – including Broadway!”
1 (3)The iconic hit sitcom I LOVE LUCY® originally aired on CBS from 1951 – 1957 for a total of six seasons and 179 episodes and is widely considered to be one of the most popular programs in the history of television. Due in no small part to its relatable characters, sharp comedic writing and Lucille Ball’s signature zany charm, the show continues to endear new audiences with every passing generation. The program was a technical trailblazer, pioneering the multi-camera shooting technique (still employed by the majority of traditional sitcoms to this day) and the use of 35mm film for the capture of a weekly, 30-minute scripted television program (which made possible the re-airing of episodes at a later date, what we now know as “reruns”).
